from Jim Coleman

About the Artist

Jim is a full-time hobbyist residing in the beautiful city of Savannah, Georgia.  He is a fine woodcrafter, interested primarily in the art of Intarsia, although he does fretwork as well.

His works are on display at Gayle Bolton's Gallery by the Sea on Tybee Island, GA and Cindy's Custom Framing & Antique Art, Inc. in Richmond Hill, GA.  Jim also participates in the Tybee Arts Association 'Art in the Park' and 'Festival of the Arts'.  He is a member of the ScrollSaw Association of the World and the Tybee Arts Association.

Before discovering the art of Intarsia, Jim's background was a military career with the United States Army.  He flew and instructed on CH-47
Chinook helicopters whose job in the military is the transport of equipment and personnel.  He is a proud member of the Vietnam Helicopter Pilot's Association and a lifetime member of the Military Officers Association of America.

Award Winning

In recent years, Jim has entered his favorite Intarsia projects into nationwide scrollsaw contests, sponsored by the ScrollSaw Association of the World.  He takes great pride in knowing that every project he has entered, has earned a ribbon in either the Intermediate or Advanced classes.
